Aravaipa Canyon is a true oasis in the Sonoran Desert, located in the Galiuro Mountains of southern Arizona. This riparian area, with its spring-fed, perennially flowing creek, provides a habitat for numerous species of fauna and flora that would otherwise not survive the harsh desert climate. Numerous side canyons with ephemeral creeks and runoffs offer distinct biomes, each with its own microclimate and distinctive geologic features. This wilderness area is protected by the Bureau of Land Management which limits the number of daily visitors to maintain the integrity of the canyon as well as the quiet enjoyment of those who venture in.
